STARS AND BUNGE LAUNCH 35TH EDITION OF THE STARS CALENDAR FEATURING FIRST-EVER CUSTOM ARTIST PRINT
CALGARY, Sept. 21, 2026 – Today, STARS, and longstanding partner Bunge, together unveiled the 2027 STARS Calendar — celebrating 35 years of the fundraising tradition that connects the community to STARS’ life-saving mission, and the people behind it.
Since its inaugural 1993 edition, the STARS calendar has raised vital funds to support life-saving critical care for patients across Western Canada while giving supporters a closer look at the people and stories behind the STARS mission.
“Since 1993, the STARS calendar has been featured in homes and businesses across the communities we serve, with many people proudly continuing to display their calendar year after year,” says Dr. John Froh, President & CEO of STARS. “The calendar is a part of our legacy and gives our allies the chance to connect with the patient stories and life-saving operations that their support helps make possible. And this year’s calendar gives them a more in-depth look than ever before.”
The 35th edition of the calendar features new Very Important Patient (VIP) stories from across Western Canada with QR codes throughout the calendar that invite the viewer to go beyond the page and deeper into each month’s featured story, with video content. And, for the first time, STARS has partnered with local artist, and VIP, Shelly Campbell to create a special-edition piece of art for the calendar’s cover.
Campbell was cared for by STARS in 2009 after she experienced complications following the birth of her child at a rural hospital. Inspired by her experience, Campbell created artwork that reflects the concept of “golden hour,” the brief window when timely care can make a life changing difference for a critically ill or injured patient.
“I’ve always loved aviation art,” says Campbell.“I said I’d like to do something around the golden hour, because that’s the whole reason that STARS got formed.”
Campbell’s artwork is also available for purchase online at starscalendar.ca as a fine art print, poster or limited edition signed artist print. She has generously chosen to direct all sale proceeds to support STARS operations.
The 2027 STARS Calendar marks 12 years of valued partnership between STARS and Bunge. Since 2014, Bunge has served as the calendar’s presenting print sponsor, allowing proceeds from calendar sales to directly support the STARS mission — representing a cumulative contribution value of more than $2.9 million in support.

ABOUT Shelly Campbell
Shelly Campbell grew up on a farm near Sundre, Alberta, where she developed a passion for storytelling and creative expression. As an artist she specializes in painting and drawing, her work ranges from fantastical subjects, like dragons, to portraits. She’s always had a passion for aviation art, specifically snowbirds.
