Sebulsky family’s extraordinary Legacy Gift will help save lives across Saskatchewan for years to come

Family of Vickie and Eugene Sebulsky, STARS legacy donors, are pictured with STARS staff at the unveiling of a memorial bench in Morrison Park in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. From left to right: STARS Chief Clinical Officer Cindy Seidl, STARS President and CEO Dr. John Froh, Sebulsky family members Michelle Stuckel, David Stuckel, Maurie Andrew and Derek Andrew, and STARS Provincial Director, Manitoba/Saskatchewan Operations Grant Therrien.

Members of the STARS team gathered today to celebrate the lasting impact of Vickie and Eugene Sebulsky — lifelong Saskatchewan residents whose extraordinary $2 million estate gift will support STARS operations across the province for years to come.

A small family gathering with STARS team members marked the Sebulskys’ legacy gift. STARS honoured the couple’s generosity and their deep love for rural Saskatchewan.

Because of Vickie and Eugene’s remarkable gift, more people across Saskatchewan will receive their best chance on their worst day,” said Dr. John Froh, President and CEO of STARS. Their legacy will live on in every mission we fly.”

A Tribute Rooted in Community

At the family’s request, recognition took place in Yorkton — the community where the Sebulskys built their lives and held deep roots. With the family, Dr. Froh unveiled a commemorative bench along the Morrison Park walking path, a place the family hopes will offer comfort, reflection, and connection for all who visit.

In addition to the bench, STARS has unveiled the design of a special in‑memory aircraft logo appearing on the cowling of a STARS H145 helicopter. The tribute symbolizes how the Sebulskys’ legacy gift will quite literally take flight — helping lift critically ill and injured patients from across the province.

Our crews will see this tribute every time they prepare to launch,” Dr. Froh added. It is a powerful reminder of the difference one family can make.”

A Gift That Strengthens Care Across the Province

The Sebulsky family’s estate contribution is one of the most significant legacy gifts STARS has received in Saskatchewan. It will support mission readiness, medical equipment, crew training, and rapid emergency response for communities both large and small across the province.

Legacy gifts play a vital role in sustaining STARS’ operations, ensuring future generations continue to receive the world‑class critical care that thousands of patients rely on every year.

Honouring a Lasting Legacy

Family members have shared stories about their aunt and uncle’s strong ties to rural Saskatchewan. They would have taken immense pride in knowing their gift will support families across the province for generations to come.

As the family gathered for photos at the commemorative bench and shared memories of the couple, gratitude and inspiration filled the moment.

The Sebulsky family’s generosity will help save lives across Saskatchewan for years to come. Today STARS and the Sebulsky family came together to honour a legacy defined by compassion and a profound commitment to others.
