Community support at STARS Rescue on the Prairie raises extraordinary $774,000

REGINA, Sept. 18, 2026 – Yesterday, five Saskatchewan industry and community leaders participating in Rescue on the Prairie came together for a phenomenal showcase of dedication to STARS, followed by a celebration with the community at A Night with STARS gala, resulting in a cumulative $774,000 in support of critical care and transport.

The 11th annual Saskatchewan Rescue event started bright and early from the Regina STARS base. Participants took off aboard a STARS H145 helicopter to a remote location, where they completed a series of challenges. From fundraising to medical and aviation, every challenge reflected aspects of what it takes to keep STARS in flight. Simultaneously, participants also reached out to their friends, family, and colleagues with the goal of raising $50,000 each, and earning their flight home.

The day’s challenges culminated with A Night with STARS Regina presented by Western Sales. The Saskatchewan community came together to celebrate the Rescue participants, and raise additional funds for the organization’s life saving mission.

It is was amazing to see our community partners come together for Rescue on the Prairie this year,” said Jeri-Lynn Johnston , STARS Chief Foundation and Brand Officer. The STARS community is at the heart of everything we do. These five participants played a vital role in raising critical funds for STARS, and ensuring we can be there for the next patient in need. On behalf of all of us at STARS, I am deeply appreciative of their involvement today.”

Everyone came together as a team. Even though we were competing against one another in the challenges, we were united by a shared goal: keeping STARS in the air,” said Bobbee-Jo Wood, vice-president, insurance broker, Atlas York Insurance, and Rescue participant. It truly hits home when you have family and friends who need that service.”

Funds raised through yesterday’s events help make STARS’ mission possible. With 859 missions flown in Saskatchewan last year alone, the support of donors, participants and event attendees plays a crucial role in keeping STARS airborne.
