What are subscription limits?
Subscription limits are the maximum number of temporary site days or permanent sites allowed within your annual subscription tier. STAR Vigilant will be providing automated notifications as you reach 10% of your subscription tier limit.

Why are you introducing subscription thresholds?
STARS Vigilant has moved to an annual subscription fee for all Site Registration services. Each customer has been placed in a subscription that includes a maximum number of site days and permanent sites. The subscription limit alert is being introduced to provide greater transparency, support proactive emergency response planning and you’re your organization manage costs more effectively.

How will these changes impact how we register sites?
There will be no change to how you register your sites. If you reach your subscription limit, you will have the option to upgrade to the next subscription tier. If you do not wish to upgrade, your site registration subscription will be temporarily paused until you reach our renewal date.

How do I determine how many temporary site days or permanent sites I’ve registered?
You can request an update on your subscription usage via email to vigilant@stars.ca. We are currently developing a new customer portal which will provide you access to this information upon log in.

How will I be notified when I am approaching my subscription limit?
You will receive an email when you’ve reached 90% of your subscription limit. A second email will be sent when you’ve reached the maximum allotment within your annual subscription tier.

Who will receive this notification?
We will email the individual responsible for managing the subscription at the email we have on file.

How do I update the subscription contact? Can more than one email address be on file?
Please use this link to update your contact information. Only one email address can receive subscription usage updates.

What happens when my organization reaches their subscription limit?
Your ability to open new sites and move existing sites will be temporarily paused until you upgrade your subscription or your renewal period is reached.

If a subscription has been paused does that affect emergency response support from STARS?
STARS is committed to providing critical care anywhere and we will continue to partner with emergency services who will activate first responders when needed. If a subscription is paused and sites cannot be opened or moved, information may need to be confirmed at the time of the emergency, which may result in longer call processing.

How do I upgrade to the next subscription tier?

Will my organization automatically be charged if we exceed the subscription tier?
No. Your subscription will be paused until we can discuss a subscription upgrade. There will be no overage charges.

Will my upgraded subscription fee be prorated?
For temporary sites you will be charged the difference between your original tier and the new tier. Permanent sites will be prorated to align with your annual billing date.

Can I update my subscription multiple times per year?
Yes. You can upgrade your tier multiple times throughout the year.

If I require a lower subscription tier mid year, will I receive a credit?
While STARS cannot issue credits for your subscription, we will use your usage history to determine your upcoming subscription rate and will place you in a lower tier for subsequent renewal.

What is the processing time to upgrade my subscription?
Subscription upgrades are made same business day to avoid any delay in site registration and emergency response planning.

Will my consultants or contracted medical support services be able to register sites on my behalf once I’ve reached my subscription limit?
No. Requests to register new sites or move existing sites will be temporarily paused. The contractor will be advised to contact a member of your organization to notify them of the pause.

Will my existing sites remain active if I’ve reached my subscription limit but choose not to upgrade?
Yes. Your sites will remain active, however updates will be limited to contact names and phone numbers only until the subscription is upgraded or renewed.

What are subscription limits?
Subscription limits are the maximum number of temporary site days or permanent sites allowed within a customer’s annual subscription fee. STAR Vigilant will be providing alerts to the customer as they reach the upper limit of their subscription tier.

Customers who have reached the maximum allowable temporary site days or permanent sites and have not upgraded their service will have their subscription paused. Requests to open new sites or move existing sites will be restricted until the customer upgrades or renews.

How do I determine if a customer is nearing their subscription limit?
This information can be provided to you when you call into the STARS Emergency Link Centre to register a site.

What do I do if I encounter a paused subscription?
Please contact the consultant responsible for that site and advise them to have the customer email STARS Vigilant at sales@stars.ca

Can we override the restriction if the customer urgently needs their site registered?
To ensure fairness, transparency, and consistent service delivery for all customers, STARS Vigilant is unable to make exceptions to the subscription limit rules. The limits within the subscription fee are an essential part of how we manage program resources and they help us to balance program accessibility with responsible cost management.

If subscription is paused, can I still update site contact information?
Yes. We encourage you to continue to update all medical contact information, even if site registration is paused.
