Hometown: Fernie, B.C.
The birth of her son was meant to be the highlight of Jerri Bradburn’s life. Sadly, the first-time mother from Fernie B.C. became so ill she has no recollection of the moment Noah came into the world. Jerri had eclampsia, a rare and serious complication that can develop during pregnancy, characterized by high blood pressure and seizures. For Jerri, weeks of headaches led to severe swelling and eventually a massive seizure. Noah was born five weeks premature by emergency c-section while doctors worked to stop his mother’s seizures. “I felt a wave of calm rush over my body and thought: this is where I am going to die,” said Jerri. After Noah’s birth, Jerri was flown by STARS from Fernie’s Elk Valley Hospital to Foothills Medical Centre. “I am so grateful to the reliable team at STARS who were able to get me exactly where I needed to be.”
