STARS Saskatchewan Lottery draws lucky early bird winner

July 18, 2013

Saskatchewan, July 18, 2013 – STARS lottery early bird winner Carolynn Franklin of Weyburn, SK is hoping her luck carries on through her trip to Las Vegas – one of the prizes she won in this year’s 2013 STARS Saskatchewan Lottery.

Ms. Franklin won a 2013 Mercedes SLK Roadster, a three night getaway for two at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and $5,000 cash – a prize package worth more than $96,000 retail. The winning ticket was drawn today during the early bird prize drawing held at the Saskatoon lottery home. The winning ticket went back into the draw drum and will be eligible for all subsequent draws.

“I am utterly shocked right now and can’t believe my good fortune,” exclaimed Ms. Franklin after learning she won the early bird package. “I have been so impressed by STARS and decided this year to go for it and purchase a ticket so I could support the organization. You can be certain I will continue to support this lottery in the future,” laughed the retired health region worker.

Midnight July 24th is the deadline to purchase tickets to the 2nd annual STARS Saskatchewan Lottery, which is now more than 90% sold out. The final grand prize draws will take place on August 14, 2013.

“As part of our three major grand prizes, Saskatchewan residents have the opportunity to win two million-dollar show homes – one in Saskatoon and one in Regina – as well as a home away from home truck and fifth wheel combination,” said Rod Gantefoer, executive vice president for the STARS Foundation. “Besides the opportunity to win some amazing prizes, by purchasing a lottery ticket, people are supporting our organization and helping give hope to someone in need.”

In addition, the lottery offers four vehicles, 13 vacations and 2,157 other great prizes including cash, furniture, electronics, jewelry and luggage. Two lucky winners can also enjoy a flight of a lifetime aboard a STARS helicopter.

After each draw, winning tickets go back into the drum for the remaining prize draws. Tickets are $60 each, two for $100, and six for $250. Total number of tickets printed is 152,200.
