Redhead Equipment gives STARS a lift today

June 4, 2014

June 4, 2014, Regina, SK – During the grand opening of its new office in Regina today, Gary Redhead, President and CEO of Redhead Equipment announced a $1 million donation to the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) Saskatchewan. STARS is a nonprofit offering emergency medical care and rapid air transportation services for critically ill and injured patients.

“This STARS investment will enrich the future for everyone in Saskatchewan, and that is something Redhead Equipment wanted to be part of,” said Gary Redhead.

Redhead Equipment, a privately-owned and operated heavy equipment dealership, employs over 425 people in five Saskatchewan-based locations. Thanks to the hard work of its employees and ongoing customer loyalty over the last 65 years, the company has grown into one of the largest heavy equipment dealers in the province.

“This donation is about giving back to the communities that have supported us,” said Redhead. “STARS was chosen, specifically, because they offer an important service that affects all residents of Saskatchewan. With employees and customers located in all corners of the province, Redhead wanted to align with a charity that benefits everyone.”

In front of a large crowd of Redhead Equipment customers, suppliers and staff celebrating the grand opening event, STARS Saskatchewan Foundation, Executive Director, Rod Gantefoer accepted the cheque. “Gary Redhead has been a long-standing supporter of STARS, going back to when he sold us our hangar,” says Gantefoer. “He is a remarkable man for giving us this generous donation and we are very grateful. I know all his employees, customers and their families are very proud of his service to the community and commitment to safety in this province.”

The Redhead Equipment donation will help cover the direct costs of providing the air ambulance service from two bases in Saskatchewan, located in Regina and Saskatoon.

The grand opening event celebrated the newly built 117,000 square foot Redhead Equipment head office, located five kilometers east of Regina on the south side of Highway 1 east. The day was highlighted by a special landing of the STARS helicopter at the event.
