Director, Foundation Operations

When STARS took to the air for the first time over 30 years ago, our founder, Dr. Powell, checked the mail every morning to see if enough donations had been received to keep our doors open one more day. Motivated to dramatically change emergency care for communities across a vast landscape, he threw his passion into creating a helicopter air ambulance service – built and supported by the community.

Today, STARS provides world-class services across Western Canada and continues to be fueled by grassroots community support. For many, STARS is their lifeline.

Director, Foundation Operations (Calgary)

Reporting to the EVP Foundation and as a member of the Foundation’s leadership team, the Director, Foundation Operations acts as the ‘business manager’ for the Foundation and is the owner of Foundation systems and processes including data analytics for the Foundation, business systems (Raiser’s Edge, Team Raiser, NetCommunity, and any other new ones adopted), and support to other Foundation leaders with budget management and tracking. This role also has oversight of the Annual Giving and Donations Services team and leads the annual planning process for the Foundation.

We seek a results-oriented individual with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive leadership roles with emphasis on turning data insights into action. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience applying data analytics and will improve our internal capacity to make evidence-driven decisions that generate stronger donor relationships and financial results across the Foundation. The individual will also have excellent relationship and vendor management experience, knowledge of project management methodologies, and experience driving change management initiatives. Financial literacy and business planning acumen will be important skills to bring to the role.

A post-secondary degree is expected (specialty in Marketing, Communications, Business or Fund Development would be an asset). A post-graduate degree in a relevant field will also be considered an asset.
