Development Officer, Events

The Development Officer (DO) works to ensure STARS fundraising goals are met by being a key member of a donor-centered development team. The Development Officer will be strategic, creative and be a sales-driven fundraiser who will be an integral part of the fundraising and donor engagement strategy for the Manitoba team. The Development Officer will both work independently and as part of a team to organize and run a number of successful fundraising events each year.
Develop, implement and manage exemplary fundraising and engagement plans and strategies to meet the organizations’ revenue objectives for event fundraising.
Manage and execute all aspects of event organization from event idea generation, budget, sales, sponsorship, in-kind contributions, critical path, logistics and programming with a view to maximize revenue generation and minimize expenses while producing a high-quality experience.
Manage and train volunteers required for each event.
Manage the prospect pipeline, understanding when to move mid-level donors to major gifts.
Develop, evaluate and propose new event ideas and initiatives to support revenue generations and ensure all events are evaluated with a view to appropriateness, feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

Attention to detail, customer service ethic and communication strength is essential. Microsoft Office knowledge and experience are required. Raiser’s Edge experience is considered an asset. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of similar experience with a proven track record.
