This Code is inherent to the way we conduct ourselves and execute the vision and mission of the organization. The Code describes how we will interact internally as employees and volunteers and externally with our stakeholders and partners to ensure excellence and integrity in meeting the needs of the critically ill and injured.

STARS employees and volunteers understand that each is an ambassador and representative of STARS. We understand that we have a responsibility as an organization and as individuals within the organization to embrace this Code.  We endeavour to maintain the highest standards of stewardship in all activities, relying on professional management, internal controls, regular audits, oversight of our Board of Directors and Standing Committees, including our Finance & Audit Committee, and formal and informal feedback mechanisms to ensure appropriate governance and management.

STARS embraces an open door policy.  If you feel that the Code has been breached at any time during your employment, volunteer time, partner or vendor relationship with STARS, you are encouraged to bring the matter to the attention of your supervisor if applicable, to your direct contact person with STARS, or to the Chief Executive Officer.

You may also report your concerns by calling our toll-free, confidential Accountability & Compliance Hot-Line at 1-877-392-6595.  No caller I.D., call-tracing, or tracking devices are ever used.  If you are not comfortable discussing your concerns one-on-one, you may remain completely anonymous.  Please note that this Hotline is a means to address perceived or actual accounting, financial or other improprieties and is not intended to be a substitute for meaningful communication in the workplace or with external stakeholders. 

For employees and volunteers, a confidential drop-box is available at each STARS base.
